Turkish and American business cultures

Discussing the symbolic frame, we talked about how Hofstede underscores the impact of national culture on the workplace. An article on cultural variability comparing American and Turkish companies' websites, written by three Turkish researchers also focuses on this subject. Article can be found here:

Individualism vs collectivism differs much between the two cultures.



A similar comment is made on the website of a company (Communicaid) that provides consultancy service on culture and communication skills. On the structure and hierarchy in Turkish companies, they say that "Decisions are always made by the most senior business people. However, due to the strong sense of collectivism that underlines Turkish business culture, the decision maker will often consider the group involved in that decision."
