Great resource for philanthropy professionals!

I wanted to share a great web resource that was started by a few coworkers, called FLiP (which stands for Future Leaders in Philanthropy). The website is about building a community and a network where other future leaders in the industry can meet, learn, exchange ideas, and contribute to each other’s success. It also serves as a central resource to update people on news and events the field, offering useful resources for young professionals looking to advance their careers. In fact, every now and again a young professional is interviewed about his/her success in the industry (in the Meet-a-FLiP section). Many of these stories offer interesting insights about management and taking creative approaches to becoming successful.

Here is the website: http://www.networkflip.com/

  1. Great site, Shikha! I wanted to share a related site called Jumo.com that was started by a Facebook co-founder and is aimed at using social networking to help users donate time, money and skills toward charities. This form of social networking kind of makes my heart flutter (as opposed to Facebook, which tends to send me in the opposite direction these days).

Anyway, Jumo was written up in the New York Times recently (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/30/technology/30jumo.html?_r=1&scp=1&sq=jumo&st=cse). The author states that only 6% of donations to charities currently takes place through the internet as evidence of the potential Jumo has to change the financial landscape of the non-profit sector. It's exciting to observe organizations harnessing technology the way Jumo and Networkflip have in order to further their aims.
